PowerWright Technologies is very proud to announce and welcome Hamid Sharifnia, P.E. as the Company’s Substation and Protection/Control Engineering Manager. Mr. Sharifnia is a licensed Professional Engineer in six states and brings over 35 years of Electrical Engineering experience to PowerWright. He will be responsible for Substation designs from 12kV to 500kV, Power System Analysis, and Training Programs.
Mr. Sharifnia joins the PowerWright team with extensive utility and consulting experience from Stantec Consulting, HDR Engineering, and PacifiCorp, where he managed Static VAR Compensator projects of two major 345kV stations. He has also managed Substation and Civil Departments where he:
• Oversaw wound equipment specifications, such as transformers, phase shifters, etc.
• Specified/bought over 100 units of 15kV metal-clad switchgears
• Designed many types of substations ranging from 15kV to 500kV
• Advised many clients such as NASA, Apple, and the City of Burbank in power system designs.
Mr. Sharifnia is the immediate past Chairman of the Oregon Section of IEEE and Power Energy Society of Substations. He has also been involved in many community outreach volunteer programs.
Mr. Sharifnia comes to PowerWright with 14+ years teaching Power System Analysis and Power System Controls and he is a co-author of chapters of the McGraw Hill, Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers, 17th Edition. He obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University.
