JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent will be responsible for the detailed engineering design of high voltage (transmission 69 - 500 kV) power line projects. These projects are to include entire new facilities, as well as major additions, rehabilitation, replacement, clearance, and re-conductoring of existing electric power lines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering.

Determines and documents project estimate, scope and schedule; sets and evaluates design options and criteria.

Works with client and/or construction contractors to develop best design.

Proofs in-house engineering projects. Attention to details required.

Manages project e-files for projects within the department.

Provides thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations.

Continually improves job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.

Serves as a mentor for younger engineers.
-
Periodically conducts field visits to collect data.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Attends work as scheduled, for up to 8 hours at a time, 5 days a week, in PowerWright’s office.

Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned worked location.

Ability to work shifts beginning as an assigned, designated start time until an assigned, designated end time.

Ability to complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner and as specified.

Ability to interact with employees and customers/clients in an appropriate manner.

Exhibits and maintains the highest degree of professionalism in the performance of all related duties.

Ability to receive and understand directions from supervision and management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
5-10 years of experience in designing transmission lines.
-
BS degree in civil/structural or electrical engineering.
-
PE Registration preferred.
-
Structural design and/or geotechnical experience required.
-
PLS CADD and PLS-Pole experience required. PLS-Tower, PLS-Caisson experience is a plus.

Experience with foundation design software such as MFAD and LPile are a plus.

Proficient in MS Excel and other MS suite of products.
-
Experience in utility based construction and operations are a plus.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct reports.
TRAVEL:
This position requires occasional travel (5-10%) associated with field site visits for data collection and verification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment requiring routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, electronic devices such as tablets, printers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets as well as use of standard office applications such as MS Office (including extensive use of video communication and collaboration platform), and internet based filing system.
